ADULTS- Merit badge counselors are necessary components of Boy Scout rank advancement. If your vocation or hobbies correspond to any of the 121 merit badges please consider signing up to be a counselor. If you know any other adult that would enjoy working with scouts and would like to help them complete merit badges please contact Scoutmaster Kyle Gillespie. He will help to get you and/or the other adults signed up.
Take a look at the local counselor list. The merit badges highlighted in green do not have a local counselor. The merit badges highlighted in yellow are Eagle required. There are some badges that do not have a counselor in the entire GSLAC region so please take a look to see if you can help us out.
The scouts will contact the counselors. At the time of the first contact, most counselors write down the date and tell the boys to complete the worksheets corresponding to the badge. Once completed, the scouts recontact the counselor and discuss the worksheets. The counselor will then confirm that the scout has done the necessary work to earn the badge.
In order to see the requirements, please refer to the boy scout pamplets. A quick way to find out the requirements online is to look at the worksheets or at the introduction to merit badges sheets.
SCOUTS- please remember to contact the counselors YOURSELF and practice being "friendly" and "courteous". Also, be sure to thank your counselors for taking time out of their schedules in order to help you.
